No 8/2016 DATE 28/04/16 12:52 – 15:50 ALB Request from Aberdeen Coastguard to assist an injured crewman aboard a Belgium warship off Methil in the Firth of Forth. ALB crew successfully medevac’d the casualty and one other to Methil harbour and the waiting Coastguard, to arrange treatment for a suspected broken finger. On return to station the Lifeboat was tasked to search an area off Pittenweem for signs of diesel spillage, none found. Further information was received from Pittenweem that no further action was required. The ALB suffered a serious mechanical failure with overheating of the starboard engine on leaving Methil, the ALB was returned to Pittenweem awaiting engineering report. The Lifeboat was placed on restricted service with a relief Mersey Lifeboat arriving on 29/04/16 and subsequently taken off service for repair. Other member of the family and dog were taken by the ALB into St Monans harbour.
Whilst our ILB tended to the injured owner on the coastline, ALB crew member Vikki Munro kept Biscuits the dog company yesterday in the wheelhouse on the return sailing to Anstruther.
