ALB & ILB

Both Lifeboats tasked by Aberdeen Coastguard to locate and aid 7 persons reported stuck in caves at Kincraig point between Elie & Shell Bay.
Once on scene the ILB located casualties and ascertained that they were in fact on the chain walk around the cliffs and were cut off by the tide but were not in any danger.
Contact was made and it was decided to take casualties off the chain-walk and back to Shell Bay. ALB stood by.
Both boats then returned to Anstruther harbour to re-house.

Crew still at the station having just returned from a service call (No 14), when the Scottish Fisheries Museum historic fishing vessel ‘White Wing’ was being launched on the slip.
Casual assistance turned into rescue as the vessel started taking on a large quantity of water, crew arranged salvage pumps to reduce the influx, while the ILB was launched and towed the casualty to the beach within the harbour were it could be safely berthed.

RNLI crews returned in two shifts from 22:30 to 03:00 and 03:00 to 05:00 to assist in pumping out during high tide until a crane could be arranged.

While returning from planned exercise the ILB became aware of a yacht aground in the Anstruther harbour mouth.
The skipper of the yacht requested assistance from the ILB. The ILB turned the yacht around to allow it to power to safer waters. With the rising tide the yacht then made its own way safely into the harbour and berthed.
The ILB continued the exercise in the harbour before rehousing.
