Assistance to paddleboarder off Crail presumed to be in difficulty

Request from HMCG to assist a paddle boarder reported to be in difficulty off Crail.
ILB launched and on scene False Alarm with Good Intent - the person was using the paddle board as a base for scuba diving.
 
ILB returned to Anstruther and rehoused

Assistance to capsized kayak

Request from HMCG to assist a casualty that had capsized his kayak and was being knocked against the rocks south of East Sands Kinkell Ness St Andrews.
Coastguard rescue team were on scene.
With casualty confirmed safe and kayak located the ALB was stood down and returned to Anstruther waiting off for tide to flood before entering and berthing at the east harbour pier wall.

Assistance to yacht entering Anstruther Harbour

Request from HMCG to assist a yacht with two persons on board.
The yacht had mechanical problems and the exhausted crew not able to control the yacht under sail to enter the harbour.
ALB located the casualty and safely towed it into Anstruther harbour.
ALB then rehoused

Request from HMCG to locate and assist two female paddle boarders in the water two miles off Kingsbarns beach, having become separated from the one board both were in the water holding on to one remaining paddleboard.
 
Both boats launched with ILB arriving on scene first, locating the casualties, taking them on board and returning them and the one paddle board to the beach.
 
ALB stood down at Fifeness on-route

Rescue of 6m RIB

HMRC requested launch of ILB to assist broken down 6m RIB, having suffered steering failure and then the lost overboard of the auxiliary engine, with four persons on board.
The RIB was drifting and not at anchor though, persons onboard were all kitted up with Lifejackets and not in need of medical assistance.
ILB arrived on scene, transferred a crew member and set up a tow safely back to Anstruther harbour.

Assistance to 5 persons in difficulty on Chain Walk

ILB diverted on route back to assist five persons from the east end of the Chain Walk requesting assistance.
ILB transferred quickly & safely the five back to beach, then returned to Anstruther and rehoused

Request from HMCG to assist the year old girl with panic attack at the chain walk, both boats launched ILB on scene first and located the child with her father.
 
Both were safely taken off and transferred to Shell Bay beach, ALB stood by to assist as required.
 
Both boats retuned to rehouse ILB diverted on route back

Casualty evacuation on coastal path

Request for crew assembly on reports of person having fallen on the coastal path with paramedic on scene, medical evacuation required.
 
LOM authorised both boats to launch because of the weather situation. ILB first on scene and with the stretcher provided by ALB, the casualty with paramedic were evacuated on the ILB. The ILB following in the wake of the wake of the ALB to the ambulance waiting at St Monans harbour.
 
Both boats returned to Anstruther to rehouse, ALB crew recalled because of the tidal situation.
 
 Time: 14:53 – 16:45 Re-housed 20:00

Response to report of person in the water off Elie

Request from HMRC following initial call to the Lifeboat Station by first informant reporting persons in the water off Elie and in need of assistance.
ILB initial requested with ALB also launching because of the prevailing weather conditions.
 
Both lifeboats searching on scene, Coastguard confirming with the first informant the location of the object seen was fishing gear related and not persons in distress.
Both lifeboats stood down and returned to Anstruther.
 
Crew recalled to rehouse the ALB because of tidal limitations

Request for ILB to search the shore adjacent to the lifeboat station for person reported missing / overdue.
On launching, the ILB immediately requested support from the ALB to search the area asked by the HMCG.
The current weather & forecast influenced this decision which was agreed with the Launch Authority. ALB crew were paged to assist
 
Both boats launched and searched the area required before being stood down by HMCG.
