DATE  17/09/17  21:12 – 23:40 hrs.

ALB & ILB
Both Lifeboats tasked to FV approximately 1mile SE of Elie with three crew on board.
One crewman had suffered a reported ‘fit ‘and required medical assistance.
The ILB was first on scene and transferred an RNLI ‘Cas Care’ registered crew man onto the casualty vessel, he was joined by two further RNLI ‘Cas Care’ crew after transfer by the ILB.
The crew made an assessment of the casualty who had been unconscious for a short while, had sustained a bang to the head and was confused at the time of assessment, plus his upper body strength was not normal with lack of grip.
Following the assessment the coxswain made the decision to Med Evac the casualty with the ALB to Ambulance at Pittenweem, because of the tidal conditions the FV could not enter the harbour, the skipper of the FV requested that the casualty evacuated as soon as possible.
ILB crew assisted in the transfer to ALB and ambulance within Pittenweem harbour.

HMCG teams were in the harbour to assist and while a further assessment was made by an off duty ambulance technician (part of the CG team) on board the ALB the emergency ambulance response was requested for the casualty transfer to hospital.
