Fishing Boat with Engine Failure Drifting Towards Rocks

ALB requested to launch by HMCG to assist a FV with engine failure drifting one mile from rocky shore with two persons on board.
 
ALB launched and located the casualty vessel, crew stayed on board while tow was arranged and safely taken into Pittenweem harbour.
 
ALB remained in Pittenweem because of tidal restrictions at Anstruther, crew recalled at 2015 to re-house the lifeboat.

Search for Missing Person

Coastguard request to search for missing person between Anstruther and Pittenweem. Both boats launched and used searchlights to assist Police & Coastguard locate the casualty.
​
No further assistance required returned to Anstruther, crew recalled to re-house ALB at 08:30.

Assistance to Injured Visitor

Assistance requested from personnel in the adjacent Scottish Fisheries Museum where a person had fallen as a result of zimmer /wheelchair brake failure, resulting in the casualty hitting the floor with right shoulder.

Assistance given by RNLI Cas care crew members on station. 

The casualty was monitored and assisted back up to her wheelchair and then to leave with family in adjacent car.

Coastguard request to launch both boats to locate and standby two casualty’s stuck on cliffs at the east end of the Chain walk near Elie.
 
Lifeboats on scene and located the casualties then stood off and awaited HMCG CRT.
 
Casualty’s recovered up to the cliff top by Coastguard teams.
Both boats awaited the casualty’s safe rescue at the top of the cliffs.
Then stood down and returned to station.

Rescue of Fishing Boat in Storm

The volunteers at Anstruther RNLI were paged to launch shortly before 10pm last night (8 Oct) to assist a 56ft fishing vessel entangled in lines 6 miles East of Fife Ness. 
The all-weather lifeboat proceeded in darkness through the forces of Storm Callum, and arrived with the vessel shortly after 11 pm.

The lifeboat crew set up a tow, and the boats made the slow and challenging sail back to the shelter of Anstruther Harbour.

Both boats arrived back in Anstruther shortly after 4 am. The fishing vessel was tied up by the Anstruther lifeboat shore team, who then recovered the lifeboat back into the station ready for the next call. 

The Anstruther RNLI volunteers headed home for some sleep at 5.30 am, before they continue with their Tuesdays.

Medical Aid to Injured Boy

ILB requested by Coastguard to assist a 12-year-old boy cut off by the tide, having fallen with a suspected neck injury. Ambulance crew on scene to provide medical assistance.
 
Addition Casualty Care crew travelled by land to the scene 400 m from the Lifeboat Station to assist ILB crew transfer the casualty to the waiting ambulance.
 
No further assistance required to ILB returned and re-housed.

Coastguard request to medivac person from the Isle of May, who had travelled there on the local tour boat. Casualty feeling seasick with other reported medical conditions.
 
ALB launched and located the casualty at Kirkhaven harbour on the Isle of May.
 
The casualty was stabilised and returned on the ALB to ambulance waiting at Anstruther harbour.

Search for overdue RIB

ALB requested to divert while on exercise to report of small RIB with three persons on-board overdue return to Burntisland harbour.
ALB proceeded and further requested to contact any other vessel in the area that may have any information on the missing RIB.

ALB stood down when Kinghorn ILB located the RIB in the harbour.
Lifeboat concluded exercise and returned to Anstruther harbour and re-housed.

Assistance to Yacht

HMCG requested immediate assistance from ALB to assist 33' yacht with 3 persons on board 4 miles south of Anstruther with its propeller fouled.
ALB launched and located the casualty, established persons on board all well and set up tow back to Anstruther.
It was decided that assistance was required from the ILB to enter the harbour, ILB was launched and additional crew transferred to casualty vessel to set up an along side tow.
casualty then safely towed to its berth on pontoon, with ALB standing by.
No further assistance required ILB rehoused, ALB waited for 1hr to rehouse because of high tide.

Both boats requested to launch to search an area between Fifeness & St Andrews after activation of an EPIRB previously registered to vessel in Anstruther harbour.
 
On route to location, it was ascertained that the EPIRB may be on shore in an industrial unit close to the search area. When confirmed both boats stood down although re-tasked to investigate a possible Mayday call from a local fishing vessel picked up by another local vessel.
 
ILB checked out that the vessel and crew were safe, when confirmed both boats returned to station.
