Request to launch ILB to assist a yacht with one adult & two children onboard fanned up just outside Anstruther harbour.
Casualty vessel located and one crew member transferred to the casualty (taking all the Covid precautions) to assist and set up a tow back to Anstruther.

Casualty safely berthed and no further assistance required, ILB rehoused, lifeboat & Station sanitised before notifying the Coastguard.

Rescue of RIB with 7 passengers on board

Launch request of ALB by HMCG to assist 8.5 m RIB broken down 1.5 miles south of Anstruther with 7 persons on board.
ALB located casualty vessel, all passengers were safe, a tow was established, and casualty vessel safely berthed alongside the pontoon in Anstruther harbour with assistance from the shore team.
ALB rehoused then Lifeboat and station sanitised before informing HMCG ready for service

Rescue of Windsurfer 10 miles off the Coast

ILB & ALB


​HMCG requested launch of ILB to search for windsurfer reported to be in difficulty spotted by first informant using telescope from Anstruther.

ILB launched but given the sea state the search conditions were not good and requested the launch of the ALB to assist in the search.​
ILB eventually located the casualty who was struggling in the conditions to windsurf.

The casualty was taken on board the ILB and sail de-rig after discussion and assisted him to Dunbar as the nearest port.
 
HMCG contacted LOM at Dunbar to make him aware of ALB & ILB operating in their local area, ALB coxswain also made contact to gain advice on local knowledge and weather condition at harbour / beach area.
The decision was made to launch Dunbar ILB to assist with the casualty & board for safe entry of ILB into Dunbar harbour.
 
The casualty was landed safely and ILB refuelled with assistance of Dunbar crew, both ILB exited the harbour while Anstruther ILB rejoined the ALB for 14.5 mile transit back to Anstruther where both boats were rehoused, then sanitised along with the station before notify HMCG ready for service.

Request from HMCG to launch ALB to assist MV May Princess running on 1 engine and with emergency steering. 48 passengers on board. ALB located casualty and stood by with tow rope and fenders in preparation. Casualty made harbour safely under their own power. ALB departed casualty once they were safely alongside and passengers had disembarked. ALB rehoused immediately thereafter. ALB and station sanitised and CG informed ready for service.

Request from HMCG to locate and assist two kayaks being taken out to sea by tide & wind.
Casualties located and unable to make headway, taken aboard ILB and kayaks were taken in tow back to Pittenweem harbour.
 
ILB returned to Anstruther and rehoused.
 
Crew, ILB and station sanitised before notifying Coastguard.

Assistance to powerless RIB

ALB was requested to launch to assist a 5.5m Avon RIB broken down with no power 1/2 mile off shore in Shell Bay, with 4 adults and 1 child on board.
All persons reported well, vessel had no VHF,  Communication by mobile phone, all wearing lifejackets.
ALB had low water launch and proceeded to casualty location, casualty taken in tow back to Anstruther harbour, as there was an ongoing incident at Elie  which would have been the nearest harbour.
Persons all remained aboard casualty vessel as per Covid guidance.  ALB hand held VHF passed to casualty helm so comms could be established and maintained for the duration of the tow.
Casualty safely tied up alongside the pontoon. Deputy Coxswain assisted the casualties and arranged exit from the pontoon enclosure.
 
ALB rehoused, the equipment and station sanitised before Coastguard notified ready at 1830 hrs

Reported kayak in distress

Request for HMCG to launch ILB to investigate report of Kayaker in distress between
Cellardyke & the Isle of May.
Casualty located safe and well and found to be in no danger with well equipped
kayak.
Weather was good and with no one in danger the ILB returned to station.
False alarm with good intent.

Assistance to crew in open boat

Launch requested by HMCG to go to the aid of 2 persons on board 18' open boat,
very close to the rocks at Billowness, anchor deployed but not holding.
ILB launched and quickly on scene, casualties were touching the shore line when ILB
arrived on scene. Casualties were making their way to shore at point of contact to
Coastguard.
ILB then towed the vessel from its location the short distance to the safety of
Anstruther harbour and tied up.
HMCG team brought the casualties by road to the harbour while ILB rehoused
