Assistance to powerless RIB

ALB was requested to launch to assist a 5.5m Avon RIB broken down with no power 1/2 mile off shore in Shell Bay, with 4 adults and 1 child on board.
All persons reported well, vessel had no VHF,  Communication by mobile phone, all wearing lifejackets.
ALB had low water launch and proceeded to casualty location, casualty taken in tow back to Anstruther harbour, as there was an ongoing incident at Elie  which would have been the nearest harbour.
Persons all remained aboard casualty vessel as per Covid guidance.  ALB hand held VHF passed to casualty helm so comms could be established and maintained for the duration of the tow.
Casualty safely tied up alongside the pontoon. Deputy Coxswain assisted the casualties and arranged exit from the pontoon enclosure.
 
ALB rehoused, the equipment and station sanitised before Coastguard notified ready at 1830 hrs

People in danger on rocks

ILB

Launch requested of ILB by HMCG after phone call from a member of the public who
had sighted two persons stuck on rocks off Cellardyke.
ILB launched and located casualties within minutes, an adult female, child and dog.
Casualties were taken on board and returned to Anstruther Lifeboat Station, HMCG
on scene at station to gather details.

ILB and station sanitised prior to notifying Coastguard that they were ready for
service.

Reported kayak in distress

ILB


Request for HMCG to launch ILB to investigate report of Kayaker in distress between
Cellardyke & the Isle of May.
Casualty located safe and well and found to be in no danger with well equipped
kayak.
Weather was good and with no one in danger the ILB returned to station.
False alarm with good intent.

Crew stood down on arrival at station. LOM contacted HMCG to ascertain the tasking
information to stand down the team.
Suicidal person in distress and now in Police custody at Lower Largo harbour.

Evacuation of fallen male on rocks

ILB and ALB


Launch of both boats requested by HMCG to locate and evacuate 21 year old male
who had fallen on rocks near Elie in the vicinity of the chain walk, though not on it.
ILB first on scene followed by ALB, ILB crew located the casualty and assisted by
HMCG CRT packaged the casualty in the RNLI orange basket stretcher transferred
from the ALB.
Casualty evacuated from the location on the ILB to Elie harbour escorted by and in
the wake of the ALB for comfort of the casualty.
Casualty handed over to Ambulance, both boats returned to station to rehouse.

ALB had to recall crew because of tidal situation.
