01/2016 11/01/16 09:34 - 11:30 ILB Request from the skipper of a creel boat to the Lifeboat Station for assistance, reported propellor fouled by creel ropes in the channel to Pittenweem harbour. The station contacted Aberdeen Coastguard to page the crew to assist, though the page was actually activated from the station. ILB launched, casualty located and tow rigged back into Pittenweem harbour. |
Once safely alongside and in the harbour assistance was given to cut eight creels and ropes from the stern of the vessel. On returning to Anstruther the ILB crew noticed twelve creels and ropes in the mouth of the harbour. They were removed to the beach by the ILB, shore crew and launching tractor. The damaged creels were the result of the large swell over the previous few days.
