DATE  28/04/16  12:52 – 15:50
ALB

Request from Aberdeen Coastguard to assist an injured crewman aboard a Belgium warship off Methil in the Firth of Forth.
ALB crew successfully medevac’d the casualty and one other to Methil harbour and the waiting Coastguard, to arrange treatment for a suspected broken finger.
On return to station the Lifeboat was tasked to search an area off Pittenweem for signs of diesel spillage, none found. Further information was received from Pittenweem that no further action was required.
The ALB suffered a serious mechanical failure with overheating of the starboard engine on leaving Methil, the ALB was returned to Pittenweem awaiting engineering report.

The Lifeboat was placed on restricted service with a relief Mersey Lifeboat arriving on 29/04/16 and subsequently taken off service for repair.

See the news report of of the arrival of the relief boat.

Weather partly cloudy,

No 06 & 07/2016
06/04/16  13:42 – 15:40
ILB & ALB

Request from Aberdeen Coastguard to assist injured female walker on a remote section of the coastal path with her husband, children and dog.
ILB arrived on scene first and beached close to the casualty location, now joined at the scene by a paramedic (a member of the Lifeboat shore crew) who administered the first aid required.
The RNLI crew transferred the basket stretcher from the ALB waiting off shore and used it to stabilise and transfer the casualty onto the ILB and then to the ambulance waiting at St Monans harbour.

Other member of the family and dog were taken by the ALB into St Monans harbour.
Whilst our ILB tended to the injured owner on the coastline, ALB crew member Vikki Munro kept Biscuits the dog company yesterday in the wheelhouse on the return sailing to Anstruther.
