Assistance to Yacht

Request from HMCG to launch and assist 11.5 m yacht approx 19 miles NE of FifeNess (24 miles from Anstruther) Two persons on board with engine failure and suffering from sea sickness & exhaustion.
 
Casualty located and doing 1.5 kn into weather, rope passed over after discussion with the skipper on strong point for tow, weather too fresh to attempt transfer.

Casualty towed to lee of the May Island to enable tow to be inspected and one crewman transferred to assist.
Tow recommenced and due to slow flooding tide held casualty off harbour for 45min until safe to bring alongside.
 
Stood down and recalled crew for rehouse.

Double tasking to missing person and disabled yacht*

Request from Coastguard to search shoreline from West Ness to east of Roome Bay near Crail to report of missing male person.
While on route to the location given, the Coastguard requested the lifeboats to divert to a second tasking of a yacht that had been overcome by waves knocking out its electronics and navigation system.
Casualty vessel located and two crew transferred to assist while the vessel was escorted to Anstruther Harbour.
The search was then continued near to Crail and then stood down by the CG as nothing was found.

ILB Assists Yachtsman

HMCG requested lifeboat assistance to aid lone yachtsman who had fouled prop off Cellardyke.
Yachtsman was going to enter the water himself and try to clear it but strongly advised him not to and ILB tasked to assist.
ILB located the casualty, cleared the prop and escorted the vessel into Anstruther harbour.

Assistance to yacht with fouled rudder.

Both boats tasked to sailing vessel off Pittenweem with fishing creel's rope around rudder.
ILB first on scene and cleared the rudder enabling the vessel to make its own way to Anstruther with ILB escort.
 
ALB arrived on scene and was stood down.

Boat in danger near rocks

Request from Coastguard to assist small boat with one person on board in distress close to rocks at Cellardyke.
ILB quickly on scene, one of the crew boarding the vessel and taking it in tow.
ALB launched to shadow the ILB towing the casualty safely back to Anstruther harbour

Yacht with Mechanical and Sail Problems

Request from Coastguard to assist a 33 foot yacht on passage in the Firth of Forth approximately 5 miles SE of Anstruther, with four persons on board and having both mechanical and sail problems.
 
ALB launched and located the casualty making very slow progress.
 
ALB escorted the casualty to the harbour mouth but because of tidal restrictions the ILB was launched to assist the casualty to berth safely at Anstruther.
 
ALB later rehoused.

ILB launched as HMCG had declared Pan Pan and other vessels assisting the casualty to safe water.
 
Casualty towed to Anstruther harbour and safely berthed
