We have been selected as the 4th Launch a Memory (LAM) Lifeboat in the RNLI.
We are looking to have 10,000 names (5000 each side) on the new decals of our Shannon Class Lifeboat expected on station Q4 2023-Q1 2024.
We have had a great start and the concept has been warmly received both locally and at a national level.
It’s an absolute honour for us to have been selected. It will bring a huge amount of interest to the new station and through that boost our loyal supporter audience.

More information can be seen on the RNLI webpage, click here

Anstruther Lifeboat Crew gave the local community a clean start to May by hosting a carwash in aid of raising funds for the new lifeboat shed. Their customers were treated to a burger while their cars went through the existing shed, which was turned into a car wash for the day.

After a fantastic turnout by local drivers, the crew raised a superb £1600 for the new shed which is due to house the replacement for the existing All Weather Lifeboat (ALB).

Anstruther Lifeboat would like to thank all those who turned out for the event.

Featured above is Scott Brown, one of our newer volunteers. Aired on 14th September 21, Scott on only his third shout, assists in the rescue of a fishing vessel that had run aground and taking on water as it attempted to enter Pittenweem Harbour.

You can can catch up on the series so far using BBC iPlayer OR see the details in our Shout Archives here

It was assessment day in Anstruther for one of our newest recruits.

Trainee tractor driver, Calum, successfully completed a low-water launch and recovery
under the watchful eye of RNLI assessor, Warren.
Not easy at the best of times, especially with the added considerations of the Covid constraints!!

Well done, Calum!

Three rescues over the weekend make it a busy time for Anstruther RNLI

The crew at Anstruther RNLI have responded to three calls in two days in a busy period for the charity’s volunteers.

On Friday morning (23 April), both lifeboats were tasked to the Elie when a female called the UK Coastguard after a fall on the notorious Chain Walk. The inshore lifeboat assessed her condition and decided it best to transfer her to Elie Harbour and waiting paramedics.

At 12.42pm yesterday (24 April), the UK Coastguard were alerted to a vessel in difficulty near to the May Island. The Anstruther’s inshore lifeboat launched and assisted the vessel back to the safety of Anstruther harbour.

While washing down the boat and kit, both lifeboats were immediately tasked to a female walker with a suspected broken leg near to Fife Ness.

Arriving first, the crew aboard the inshore lifeboat administered casualty care before passing the lady into the safe hands of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

As restrictions ease and the good weather continues, RNLI Media Officer for Scotland, Martin Macnamara, urges coastal visitors to take care and plan ahead. Martin said: ‘Accidents at the coast will happen. It is important that you have a means to call for help should it happen to you. If you get into difficulty, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.’
