ILB

Request from Coastguard launch both boats, to assist two crew on a Fishing Vessel near Pittenweem harbour that had become fanned up with creel rope, lost power and washed onto the rocks, where it was holed and taking on water.

ILB arrived on scene first and rescued the two crew, taking them back to Pittenweem harbour while ALB stood by. The ILB suffered a fouled propeller whilst operating in the channel of harbour during the service.
This occurred in the same area of the casualty vessels initial incident.

After discussions with the Coastguard via land line, two additional RNLI crew were taken on ALB to look at options for recovering the FV. It was deemed that too much water had been taken on for any safe extraction from the rocks and the vessel left for salvage.

Both Lifeboats moored in Pittenweem for short time to 'debrief' with Coastguard personnel & Harbour staff, before returning to Anstruther to rehouse.
Station and lifeboats sanitised before notifying the Coastguard
