19/11/16 09:45 – 10:15 DNL A female walking with her companion slipped on ice just outside the lifeboat station as the first crew were assembling for an exercise. Senior helm and first aider along with one other crew made her comfortable on the stretcher off the ice and provided blankets while administering Entenox. The ambulance arrived and the casualty was safely delivered to their care and hospital treatment. Casualty located and towed safely to Anstruther Harbour were it was moored. 25/10/16 14:02 – 14:56 ILB Request by Aberdeen Coastguard to assist a small creel boat fanned up on creel ropes (ropes around propeller) off Cellardyke harbour, with 1 person on board. ILB launched and located the casualty, being assisted by another vessel, the ILB crew took over the tow and using a bridal and tow rope proceeded to Anstruther harbour where the casualty was beached in an "alongside tow". No further assistance required the Lifeboat re-housed Weather – Part cloudy Visibility - Good Wind – Light airs 225 Sea state – Calm No. 35 19 October16 03:33 – 06:15 ALB Requested by Aberdeen Coastguard to assist fishing vessel with 2 persons on board with mechanical problems.
ALB launched and located the casualty at anchor in the Firth of Forth. A tow was established and the casualty taken to Pittenween and safely berthed. No. 31 & 32 16 October 2016: 11:21 – 12:30 ALB ILB Requested by Aberdeen Coastguard for boat lifeboats to search the shore line and sea area off Pittenweem golf course following the sighting of a life-ring.
Search conducted nothing found, both boats stood down and returned to Anstruther to rehouse. Weather – Part cloudy Visibility - Good Wind – Mod breeze 225 Sea state – Rough No 30/2016 22/09/16 06:17 – 11:00, rehouse 17:00 – 18:00 ALB Requested by Aberdeen Coastguard to assist a fishing boat taking on water 7 miles NE from Port Seaton within the Firth of Forth. ALB on scene and transferred four crew and two pumps to the casualty vessel, having reduced the water level the fishing gear was retrieved and made safe. Casualty then towed back to Port Seaton, where it was safely moored alongside in the harbour and passed over to the Coastguard. ALB returned to berth at Pittenweem harbour, where it was refuel led and awaited the tidal conditions at Anstruther. No 29 18/09/16 21:45 – 23:05 ILB Requested by Aberdeen Coastguard to assist the other emergency services, Fire Rescue, Ambulance, and Police & Coastguard, attending an unconscious fisherman who had fallen onto the deck of a fishing boat in Pittenweem harbour.
The ILB was quickly on scene with all other available crew attending by road (about two miles from the Lifeboat Station) to offer assistance. The ILB crew in consultation established a safe route to transfer the casualty to the other services as quickly and safely as possible at the old harbour. The casualty was then taken care of by the ambulance and other services on scene. ILB returned to rehouse at Anstruther Station coxswain Michael Bruce commented, 'This was a carefully coordinated rescue incorporating the individual training of the ambulance service, police, fire service and coastguard shore team to ensure the safe, swift stabilisation and evacuation of the injured fisherman. With all services understanding their own and more importantly each other's capabilities, we were able to coordinate the evacuation by our ILB crew to colleagues shore side.
